2018 Hunter's Sight-in Day

October 21st, 2018

Our mission is to promote the shooting sports safely and responsibly, in our local community.

On October 21st, The Columbus Rifle Club in partnership with the Nebraska Game and Parks will open it's private 200yard range to free use by the public to safely sight-in rifles prior to hunting season. Volunteers will be on hand to provide technical assistance. Targets are provided free of charge. To ensure the safety of everyone please make sure that your firearm is unloaded before entering our facility. Always follow the instructions of the Range Safety Officer(s) and volunteers.

Please remember the following safety rules while at our facility:

  1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
  3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded, until ready to use

The Columbus Rifle Club wants to remind everyone that alcohol and firearms never mix! We wish everyone a fun and safe 2018 fall hunting season.

Smallbore

Smallbore Rifle competition is fired with single-shot .22” Long Rifle firearms, using either iron sights (no or limited optics) or with telescopic sights. Firing is done from the prone, kneeling and standing (and sitting) positions. Distances to targets are 50 feet, 50 yards, 100 yards, (and 50 meters for International competition). Time limits are very generous.

USPSA & Steel Challenge

USPSA competition has provided a test bed for equipment and techniques, many of which are now the standard for police and military training.

Cowboy Action

Cowboy action shooting is a unique shooting sport that is designed for all shooters and skill levels. Many shooters enjoy the historical aspect or the competition, but this is not an old west reenactment. Costumes are not required, all you need is a pair of jeans, long sleeve work shirt or Henley, and a pair of boots.

Information for gun show vendors
We had a very successful highpower match Sunday, May 27th. Considering it was both a holiday weekend and we expected above normal temperatures I was pleased with the turnout. With conditions what they were, we elected to shoot 2 stages of (20) rounds for record slow fire prone. Targets are scaled to simulate 600yd distance.

Spaces Available Spring Gun Show

We still have a limited number of tables available for our 2019 SpringGun Show. Reserve your 8' tables now for only $25.00 each (limit 10), to participate in one of the longest running and most respected gun shows in Nebraska.

Show ammenities include, 150 tables in one room, ample parking, restaurant on-premises, on-site RV hook-ups (must be reserved in advance), and local hotel and meal discounts for registered vendors.
