How do I become a Member?
Membership in the CRC is not automatic nor is it first come / first served. Your request to join will be reviewed by the Executive Committee. Attending CRC events/matches/meetings and getting to know current members helps with vetting new members, as current members will be asked to vouch for new member requests. The more members you know, the better your odds of becoming a member. To become a member of the Columbus Rifle Club, first fill in the New Member contact form, located in the About Tab and submit. The Membership Coordinator will contact you to get the process started. Meetings are held on the first Monday of any given calendar month at 7pm sharp. Check the EVENT calendar for current meeting location.
Do I need to be a member of the NRA?
Yes. NRA membership is required at the time of application.
What if I'm unable to complete my membership participation hours?
In order to foster a strong and healthy community of club members, The Columbus Rifle Club strongly encourages its members to be active participants in as many related events as personal schedules allow.
However, we understand some members are unable to perform their annual Membership Participation Hours. In this case, the member will be required to pay twice the annual membership dues for the following membership year in order to remain in good standing.
Can I bring guests to the range?
CRC members are permitted to bring up to four (4) guests at one time to the range. All guests must sign a Liability Waiver and Release Form each and every time they visit the range. This waiver must be countersigned by a CRC member in good standing and then placed in the waiver form drop box located inside the Covered Firing Line. Guests are required to wear a Guest ID Badge, which are located next to the waiver form drop box inside the Covered Firing Line, while on the range. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their respective parent or guardian.
How much does a membership cost?
As of 2021, annual membership dues are $125. New members—including past members who have let their membership lapse—are subject to an additional one-time initiation fee of $125.
Are there any membership obligations?
All members are required to perform five hours of Membership Participation every membership year. These participation hours can be obtained by volunteering at various club functions such as CRC’s Spring and Fall gun shows, Hunter Sight-In Day, participating in scheduled club shoots or setting up/tearing down a shoot, assisting with various range improvement projects/work parties, or by joining the range mowing crew.
If you would like to earn your Membership Participation hours in a way other than the duties mentioned above, you must contact a CRC Executive for approval.
Are there any restrictions at the shooting range?
The Columbus Rifle Club regularly maintains a list of Range Rules and Regulations which is available here on our website as well as inside the Covered Firing Line (on the north wall just inside the east entrance.)
