CRC 1st Annual Jerome Slusarski Garand Match
Sunday, May 15thth, 2022 the Columbus Rifle Club will be hosting the second in a series of Highpower Rifle matches. Start time will be 8:00 am, and please arrive 15+ minutes early to help with the final setup. Prior to the beginning of this match all competitors will attend a safety briefing to review the operating procedures of the Garand rifle.
The following basic rules apply:
Upon check in all competitors will be squadded and issued a relay and target number. Relay #2 will report to the pit to pull their assigned target. Relay #1 will report to the firing line where they will draw from random score cards. On the back of each score card set will be the serial number of a club M1 Garand rifle. They will be issued (35) rounds of M2 ball ammo and that rifle for the event. All rear sights will be at zero elevation. Competitors will be responsible for raising the rear sight 8-12 clicks, checking the initial windage and using the (5) sighting shots to establish a zero for completing the match. Upon completion of course of fire, Relay #1 will return their rifles, the rear sights will be reset to zero elevation, a pit change will occur and Relay #2 will repeat the same firing procedures. All other shooting equipment is welcome, but you must use the assigned club Garand and ammo. Competitors MUST provide their own slings
This will be an Across-the-Course match. This match will be a CMP (30) shot Course-A as below:
Stage #1- (5) sighting & (10) shots for record, slow fire – prone position in (15) minute limit
Stage #2 – (10) shots for record, rapid fire with reload in (70) second time limit. As you are shooting club rifles, an alibi relay will be fired for any competitor who has a rifle malfunction.
Stage #3 – (10) shots for record, slow fire from the standing position in a (10) minute limit
Relay #1 will report to the firing line to shoot first and Relay #2 will be the first in the pits.
Relay #1 will complete all three stages before any pit change.
*** As we are shooting off a concrete firing line, shooters will start the rapid fire stage in the prone position, with bolts closed on an EMPTY Chamber. No one is being asked to begin in the standing position. ***
*** Anyone not comfortable firing from the prone position may elect to enter the special “foxhole” class and shoot stages #1 & #2 using sandbags on a bench. ***
Target choice will be SR (200yd) for the entire match.
Match fee will be $10 for any club member, $35 for non-club members.
